About Jürgen Rooste:
Jürgen Rooste studied Estonian philology and works as director of the Estonian Institute in Helsinki. He has published five collections of poems and has recently started his own publishing company. Characterisic of his poetry are evocations of urban scenery and a hard-boiled humour, alternating with passages of surprising tenderness. In an untitled poem in which he questions the use of poetry, he says: "I ask myself and the guy / who washes cars // and the pretty chick / from the foreign culture institute."
