Erik vandenberge & his crappy dogs. band from zeeland / netherlands. about their latest cd 'Iwan': 'Iwan' is named after the cargoship that determined Erik Vandenberge's life for two years. He worked on it, sailed with it from place to place like a water-gypsy, lived and slept there and made music there. 'Iwan' is Erik's story of an unequal struggle against elements, authorities and himself. The ship acted as recording-studio while it was moored in the harbour of 'Nieuw- en St.Joosland' (Zeeland/Netherlands).....'Iwan' is of a rare bareness, of a disarming authenticity. Freedom comes above all, however it demands a sacrifice; the lack of practically all luxury and securities, a harsh existence. That is what can be heard in the music. 'Iwan' is a pearl of real music, without trappings, without pranks; right to the point.
