In 1998 Andre Arends started TAMAR Muziektheater which aim is making contemporary music more comprehensive for children and youngsters. Doing this by initiating musictheatre productions and inventing educational programs.
As a composer André Arends worked in the theatre together with choreographers as Beppie Blankert and Feri de Geus, directors as Bas Zuijderland en Erik Vliegenberg and writers as Heleen Verburg and Tom Sijtsma.

In 2004 he left TAMAR and started his own company called Arts & Vision. A contemporary multidisciplinary company making multimedia productions in an international context. André forms a creative team around him originating from different cultural and artistic backgrounds, ranging from dance, music, theatre, film and visual arts.
Works in progress are:
- ‘VOICES’, a new oratorium with a libretto from writer/philosopher Hélène Gelèns, premiered October 2006.
- ‘DE KLEINEKAPITEIN’ (THE LITTLE CAPTAIN), an opera for children based on the famous book of the Dutch writer Paul Biegel, premiered February 2007.
- NIGHTWALKING, a multimedia production about the world of darkness and silence for deafblind people with Orchestra De Volharding, filmmaker Ellen Blom and the Canadian visual artist Natalie Schönfeld, premiered August 2007.
- WILLEM, a musictheatre monologue for one actor and a hobo – player, premiered October 2007.
Besides his artistic leadership of Arts & Vision he is still active as a saxophone player in the field of contemporary improvisations and is composer of chambermusic.
