A graduate of Boston University and Eastman School of Music, Bulgarian composer, organist and conductor Alexandra Fol (1981) is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Composition at McGill University with Brian Cherney. Aside from a multitude of chamber music, she has composed a number of orchestral works, which include a Requiem, a Symphony, an instrumental theatre, a monodrama, and five concerti for different instruments and orchestra. Her compositions have been performed by the Montréal Symphony Orchestra, one of the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestras, the Young Artists Orchestra and Boston University Orchestra among other ensembles.

Fol is a finalist for the 2006 Gaudeamus Composition Prize. She is currently student-composer in residence for the McGill Symphony Orchestra and expects a CD release in 2006-07 from the Bulgarian National Radio Orchestra. Her chamber music commissions include movie music for the Image-Movement-Sound festival (USA) and a work premiered in Carnegie Hall. Fol has four CDs as composer, conductor and organist. She has commissioned ten new works for organ and conducted several world premieres. Fol has worked as organist in Marsh Chapel (Boston) and Webster Baptist Church (Rochester). Fluent in four languages, Fol has published articles in three countries, and worked for a year as a music critic in “The Campus Times”.
