Frank Crijns was born on June 12, 1960 at Sint Pieters-Woluwe (Belgium). He has the Dutch nationality.
He studied composition at the Rotterdam Conservatorium with Peter Jan Wagemans and Klaas de Vries.
His work work as a composer can be divided in two parts:
1) Composing for soloists and modern music ensembles (a.o. Ensemble Loos, Basho Ensemble, Quasar Saxophone Quartet, Combustion Chamber Ensemble).
2) Playing and composing contemporary and improvised music.
Crijns played (guitar) and wrote music for Titanic Combo and Spelonk (CD Jazz in studie: VARA radio) and cofounded the group BLAST. He played with the big bands 'Nieuwe Muziek' and 'Positive Nuns' (CD: The Bible Two (1999), Pantheistic Records, Italy). He played duet on the CD 'My Favorite Strings' (Isinaz, isi 1002, 2004) with L. Margorani.
